A problem in the UK was discovered due to the fact that TX and TN are swapped in 2013 and 2014 which is fixed in this version. Temperature series for the five main stations in The Netherlands are replaced by homogenized versions. Underlying temperature and precipitation series for France have been removed and reincluded, together with some new stations. Yearly and half-yearly updates are included for Croatia, Denmark and Catalonia. Monthly updates are continued for Germany, Czech Republic, Bosnia and Herzegovina, Norway, Slovenia, Finland, Ireland, Sweden, Luxembourg, Netherlands, Portugal and Switzerland. 13.1

July 2016

1950-01-01 - 2015-12-31

There was a problem with the sea level pressure series of some stations in Croatia and Italy resulting in strange features in the gridded sea level pressure fields (pp) for E-OBS v13.0. These have been corrected and the gridded fields are released again as v13.1. The temperature and precipitation files are the same as for v13.0. New stations are included for the north of Norway, Czech Republic and Portugal. Re-inclusion of Danish series and updates for several other countries. More detailed information can be found on the page comparing versions 13.0 and 12.0.
August 2016: A problem in the UK was discovered due to the fact that TX and TN are swapped in 2013 and 2014. This will be fixed in E-OBS v14.0.

12.0

1950-01-01 - 2015-06-30

New stations included for Catalonia (Spain), Ireland and Norway. Updated MEDARE dataset (Mediterranean countries). More detailed information can be found on the page comparing versions 12.0 and 11.0.

11.0

April 2015

1950-01-01 - 2014-12-31

Many new stations are included, making the station density in some areas much higher and several series are updated. More detailed information can be found on the page comparing versions 11.0 and 10.0.

10.0

April 2014

1950-01-01 - 2013-12-31

The Netherlands, Ukraine, Bosnia and Herzegovina, the UK, Slovakia and Croatia have updated their series by one or a few years and/or have an increased station density. Also several other stations have updated series.

9.0

October 2013

1950-01-01 - 2013-06-30

An artefact in the drizzle occurrence, observed in the rotated grid, was solved by a modification of the regridding procedure. This modification restricts the selection of the number of 0.1 degree grid points of the master grid contributing to each grid point in all rotated versions.

8.0

April 2013

1950-01-01 - 2012-12-31

Increased station density in the Mediterranean and Russia. Various series are updated. Note: there is still a slightly sparser coverage over Scandinavia approx. before 1961 although less than in version 7.0. This is related to a problem in the gridding algorithm.

7.0

September 2012

1950-01-01 - 2012-06-30

Irregularities around Luxembourg (precipitation) and Romania (min & max temperature) are corrected. Increased station density in Sweden and Finland, and various series are updated. Note: there is a sparser coverage over Scandinavia approx. before 1961 despite the higher station density. This is related to a problem in the gridding algorithm.

6.0

April 2012

1950-01-01 - 2011-12-31

Increased station density in Norway. Various series are updated.

5.0

September 2011

1950-01-01 - 2011-06-30

Increased station density in Germany and Spain. Various series are updated. The blending method of the underlying stations is slightly changed.

4.0

March 2011

1950-01-01 - 2010-12-31

Updated station series in several countries. Increased station density in Czech Republic. Included daily averaged sea level pressure from this E-OBS version onwards. See paper by van den Besselaar et al. 2011, J. Geophys. Res., 116, D11110. Added start and end date to stations in file with underlying station series.

3.0

April 2010

1950-01-01 - 2009-12-31

Station density increased in Russia (and surroundings) and Slovenia. Some station records from the participants and the records from the GTS network have been shifted back for one day to have maximum overlap of the measurement period and the 0-24 UT time period (More information).

2.0

August 2009

1950-01-01 - 2008-12-31

Station density increased in Norway, the Netherlands, Germany, Northern Italy and Serbia. More series are used due to the upgrade of the programs to produce the underlying station series (More information).
